Ask for the Old Paths
The Bible says: “Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.” (Jeremiah 6:16) This has never changed even unto this day. Too bad. God has told us what to do, for our own good, and our answer is: We will not walk therein. There are so many “new” things available for us today that we are overwhelmed with options. I must say that Not everything out there is “good” for you. How do I know which is which ? Could I offer this suggestion? Choose that which is God Honoring. Go for a higher, nobler standard, other than just what is God allowed. Live a life, pleasing unto God. I have heard it said, we are as Holy as we want to be. I believe it. I had to think about it first, but I believe it. You are as good a bowler as you want to be. You are as good a hunter as you want to be. You are as good a mother, or father as you want to be… I believe the list goes on and on.
You know we only have so much time here on earth. Then comes death. Whatsoever you believe, then comes death. You will know beyond “faith” what is waiting after death. The Bible also says: Ephesians 5:15-16 “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” Now I do not know about you, but I believe every word of the Bible. This is what the Bible tells me, so it is true. If I want to be “better” I need to do something about it, Now ! It is too bad we do not really consider these things when we are younger. However, if you are reading this, you have opportunity Now ! How I spend my time here on earth is up to me. I know we all have our excuses, but our life is our choice. Worldly counselors will even tell you the same thing. Make better choices. For everyone this is always good advice. I would ask you to go a step further. How about . . . Make Godly Choices. read your Bible, do as it says. Accept a challenge, Get closer to God. Even this country, years ago was closer to God. We had a book, the Bible. Many people looked to it for answers. I believe it still works today. God is still God. How about honoring Him. How about living our lives to please God. We would be “better” for it.
